I have already tried restore points. I mean that the dvd drive refuses to rotate, and i think that the laser is broken

I have had my acer laptop just over a year know and everything has been fine until a few months ago. All of a sudden my dvd drive stopped working which was a major problem as I routinely back up my hard drive as I use it for work....
