slower over laptops because laptop drives are crap compared to desktop drives in speed, so basically USB transfers can only go as fast as either your enclosure or your laptop HDD speed when writing

there is NO diffrence in speed between AGP 8x and PCIE 16x with current video cards, YES on paper the PCIE is faster but NO card can saturate AGP 8x right now, they are barely passing the AGP 4x mark.
