Ok a quick disassembly finds the fan-unit clogged with dust and hair. Easy fix. I shall continue dismantling the computer from here just to see what all I can upgrade and replace.

Let the battery run totally flat to the point where the computer shuts down (~5% charge) and then let it charge overnight... and report back on your batter health.
The R40 I salvaged from the trash is having fan problems. First I want to open the thing up and check the fan. What is involved in getting at the fan? Second... What all is involved in actually replacing the fan? Connectors?...
I see my ratings showed up. Pics this weekend, possibly some benchmark stuff if I get time I have a different configuration R40 that I might review at a later date. It's got a different CPU and graphics card.
