Hi there have you tried updating the BIOS...Even Though HP's BIOs aint all that excellent it does help with charging issues...Whats your model number and il get you the link
well run msconfig from the RUN application then disable certain microsoft service...also there is a program called Sisoft sandra...check out the link below

download that then go...
try running it in safe mode to see what happens and it that works the system is stable then you no you need to perhaps re install the OS...if it does not then you can try to re install the OS...if none of this works you now no that its...
hey basicly there aint anything you can do the hard drive is locked and you might as well throw it in the bin as HP hard drives cannot be unlocked..the lock gets hard wirred into the drives firmware...If you willing to buy a new drive...
