As for the screen, did you know that the HP can be configured with the same glossy screen....
I'm pretty sure FireWire also has length limitation, though I forget what right now and whether it actually means anything. I remember SCSI having a length limitation too...
Why even ruin it? It sounds pretty bad as is. Bring it in and show them -- if they give you any grief, ask them to show you that the things are indeed working. Be insistent and persistent, but not angry or rude.
Yes. It should work. Routers and wireless cards are non-brand sensitive (with the exceptions of the those "G-108-Boost" type products, but there shouldn't be a problem here.)
