yea my desktop has a sata dvd drive, so simply plugged the hard drive into it and it works, so it's defo not the hd. So guess that's the end of my laptop then

not sure if you're talking to me or the other fella. removed the ac, removed the battery, reinstalled the memory = nothing, same prob. Don't you think the screen would still come up if it were a hard drive issue? Screen would say no...
