It's more likely you have to remove the keyboard and the whole palm rest out to access to the connector from LCD to motherboard. I'm not familiar with the TX series, but that's how I did it for my S360. There is a big connector plugged...
How about offer a fix? How much would you think it will cost? What should I do? Replace the ATi chip? I'm quite attached to the laptop, so even if I can't fix it, it'll probably hang around for a while.
So, after 2 years having my laptop, I have changed the motherboard once (luckily, under warranty), upgraded the wireless card, added bluetooth, upgraded RAM, HDD, changed the whole top panel due to broken LCD hinge, changed the touchpad...
The non-official driver may cause you problem when trying to view with the ext monitor. I got it in the middle of the presentation. I couldn't connect the projector as a second monitor. Instead, it was just a replica of whatever...
When did you register? And the pin mod doesnt work with this processor (in S360). I got problems when trying to install the damn AS5 too, sent in, get replaced motherboard and never bother AS5 again.
I think $1000 or $1200 is reasonable (it's my opinion of course)
www.memoryx.com are selling much better swissbit MicroDIMM RAM. Sometimes you can buy from thier store on ebay for much better price. I got mine (1gb for S360) for a mere $220 half a year ago. It was considered good price then.
