First thing i wud suggest is to try a system restore to an earlier date before your audio port issue was addressed. If that does not help then check in device manager if there are any yellow question mark/exclamation mark....you can try...

Firstly...hav u tried a headphone and check the sound quality and volume? if u r getting proper sound from headphones or externals speakers that would confirm tht the issue is with the internal speakers. if not,then go to device manager...
