Out of 3 Vaio S-170s that me & my buddies have, two suffered from a fried motherboard (fixed under warranty) & two have developed splotches / blemishes on the LCD screen... Nonetheless, this is still the best laptop out there...

For what it's worth -- my buddy had upgraded his HD on his Vaio S, sent it in for warranty repair (motherboard problems?) & they fixed it, no questions asked.
