With p4 put it on a cooling pad, $20 required investment for long uptime.
If it's always plugged in, take the battery out or you will develop batt problems if you don't use it. Heat=very bad for battery.

Check out the website batteryuniversity. I left mine plugged in most of the time and only used the battery every couple weeks, and now it won't hold a charge above 44%.
I would take the battery out and store it in a cool place at ~40%...

If you're going to be carrying your laptop around a lot to classes, I find a 15.4 screen is a little bit big. but then again, I wouldn't go with a firegl card for gaming.
