do you plan on using it in class? ie. do you plan on using it mostly on battery or from a power outlet?
as a smaller screen/ultra portable model would suit you rather than the larger widescreen variants
it wont hurt the battery as such but it affects the interface between the battery and the laptop software

do you have an internet connection at home?
because it appears you can send and receive packets, even though you are not receiving a lot..you are still receiving them
