heh..yeah i luv my battery time as well...luv my asus for it btw i replaced a toshiba slot loading burner...its just that the face plate on my toshiba is matched with the asus laptop's chassis but it does not fit in the pioneer...

ahh..thanks for the responses...i ended up buying the 5400rpm drive anyways..mainly because i'd like to keep those extra minutes on the laptop as every minute is crucial when using it whilst infront of the tv plus the heat from my prev...
unless you manually force the brightness to go up everytime using the function button and thats not enough try going into the display properties advanced section and there should be an option there to force the contrast and brightness...
