Not sure if it's exactly the same Macally product, but my wife has Macally screen protectors for her TiBook and yes, they are meant to be applied and to be seen through.Almost makes the screen look brighter.
As another Canadian... the problem with some of the popular US brands (Sager, CyberPower, etc.) is that we could likely get charged duty (an extra 10%) to get the unit across the border. Our choices are more limited. Of the better brands...
