intel dual core t3400 or intel core 2 duo t5800???

Hi all I bought this laptop a week ago and seem to be having problems with the touchpad and the cd drive. Im just wondering has anyone else got one of these and experienced these type of problems.

Is the drive an issue at all?

HP G60-214EM or Dell Inspiron 1545 both from currys? I would use it to download films and music and general web surfing.
