update, I finaly got a chance to read the screen.
problem is caused by the following file; vsdatant.sys
Page_Fault_in_NonPaged_Area
the rest is hexa decimal stuff.
Any Ideas?

This is now the 3rd time this week my laptop has crashed for no reason.
all 3 times my laptop has not moved, wasn't bumbed or anything.

Does your modem happen to be AC97 something integrated....
Try to update your drivers, that usually helps.
check your modem port speed. I keep mine at 115200. even though it should be...
Thats alittle drastic, I really think its that new installed program. Find away to uninstall it. Samething happened to me. Just keep restarting and doing anything possible to start normaly. Maybe try to disable the program from starting....
no wonder why it didn't work right. I am taking vb now and I hate it. prolly because in my college they make you tke Advanced VB and assume you can adapt quick enough.
You should try to write it in C++, I thinks its more powerful
