I would get 2x1gig for a total of 2gigs of ram,i did the same updrade on my C500 and made a huge difference on how vista runs,well worth the upgrade.

Just as a side note i can play my favorite game ut2004 on my C500 just fine so so you might not be able to play latest games on that notebook but you not completely out of luck.

I also recently changed my lcd screen and used the same inverter,good luck.

I think if your laptop came with vista stick with it!I did the down grade to xp also and nothing but problems on my laptop.I think if you just get alleast 2 gigs in your laptop for vista then your good to go,as far as apps not working...

Actually ive done the opposite of what your going to do,i use my desk top for gaming only and all my other work is on my laptop. All my stuff(printer,scanner,movie box,)is hooked up to my laptop.It's so nice to be able to transport...
