Buy a Thinkpad T60.
Yes, it can. My S360 has 1.5 gb of RAM. It is not inexpensive though.
For $899? Looks like a decent deal to me. Although if you're doing serious photo editing you're probably going to want to boost that RAM.
What do you mean? Best for whom? Best for what? Which configuration? What need or desire is it fuflilling? Those are three very different notebooks, that could be configured any number of ways.

It is a fairly recent model, and I don't know if I've seen a review of it either. have you checked the various laptop publications?
