BIOS says the card is just "7800", no GS part. I also have 7950 GTX and the bios does say "7950 GTX". So, is this a 7800GS ? The part number on it is GK185. (9400/m1710)

try latest nvidia drivers for ur card. they come with something called "Nivida Control Panel". If even that shows 0s, then you know u have hardware problem.
