Get the demo of acronis Trueimage. It will do a complete image of your HD and it will clone harddrives if you can get both installed on the lappy at the same time. Works for 15 days before it expires.

Look at the Dell Latitued C600 or C610s as well. Tons of them out there just coming off leases. Plus spare parts (memory/HDs) are plentifull. You can google for places to buy or you can get them from Dell (at more $$).
