I am also a victim of Toshiba's quality control. My Satellite /w Go440 stopped working after about 2 years. Since then I use a Dell Inspiron (and I will never purchase any Toshiba products again). However, now I read that it is...
I do not think that whackie's card is fried. It's just badly flashed. Is it possible to remove the flash rom and properly reflash it with a stand-alone eprom flasher?
I remember a story relating to the desktop x800. People said that not the bios but the gigabyte flasher was responsible for the activation of the pipes. This is because the pipes remained active even if the old bios was...
"i wonder if we can simply change that variable" You cannot simply change the variable because you will not find it in the bios file if you open it with a hex editor. Moreover, you can not simply disassemble the bios file...
Hulk, I am the guy who originally brought up this topic in September 2004 ( http://notebookforums.com/showthread...ditional+pipes ). Initially, noone believed me ;-) I have been following whackie's attempts to unlock the pipes but I...
From what I can see CPUFSB merely allows to change the multiplicator (i.e., the FSB/clock speed). It does not allow to change the RAM timings. Moreover, it seems to me that also CPU overclocking has a fairly limited influence on...
@suryad I would not invest my money in faster RAM. There are many tests which say that the performance increase can be neglected. By contrast, a video driver update may result in a HUGE performance increase.
Forget about Sandra. It's like Norton AntiVirus... ;-)
From all what I know the tweaking of the RAM timings does not significantly increase the performance. Maybe 1% or 2%. You will not "feel" the difference. By contrast, overclocking a P4 2,8 to 3,4 gives a slight performance...
Sometimes, Sandra does not work well. Please confirm your problem with the following freeware benchmark (CPUBench) which does not require an installation: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download1018.html
