Have you tried any of the Omega drivers? They are "supposed" to work on all Radeon's, including their mobile counterparts. You can get them at omegadrivers.net.
Well the main reason being that they have been discontinued. It has been pretty much replaced by the Sager NP5320. It also has an X700 256mb, but comes with a 15.4" widescreen instead of a "regular" 15inch screen.
