I installed an new version of XP Pro which came with SP2 on my 510c.. No problems with hibernation.
I have no information on this model, but an HP laptop with this processor and 512k of ram should work out fine for basic computing, DVD, internet and other utility needs. However, you didn't mention what your performance requirements...
I doubt that there is a one year return at Costco for computers at this point in time. I believe that they now have a 6 month (or shorter) limit for computers only. I think that some folks were taking advantage of the one year return...
Sounds good to me too. As a MSI 510c notebook owner, I have to expect that MSI used similar design and construction skills in developing this model. Go for it!
