I'm having the same problem. Its gets kind of ridiculous when you can't hear the movie loud enough WITH / in Headphones... even just in something like a restauraunt. This is the weakest part of the machine for me, otherwise it rocks. Bob

Hey, with the help of Sager tech, I found the problem, sort of. To get 5.1 from the spdif when watching dvds, you have to use Intervideo WinDVD4 (came with pc). When you open it, right click in the window, go to setup, then audio....
