Run it on battery power only.

Try wiggling the switch beside the power button. When I first received my 8790 the screen didn't come on until I moved the switch around. Sometimes I guess it could get stuck. If that doesn't work then I guess you're SOL.

I got it back today and everything seems to be in working order. I'll just keep it one level down from max brightness hoping it doesn't go out again.
