the mobility 9700 is just an overclocked mr9600. It will give you better FPS but not by much, around 20% or so. The x700 is a new design with more pipes and vertex shaders. It has onpar performance with the mr9800, thus giving it roughly...
probably is your hdd, but if your athlon has more ram then its the ram and the hdd. Remember, the hdd is the slowest component in your system and the only mechanical one that has anything to do with performance.
IBM doesnt produce its own laptops. Lenova makes IBM notebooks and IBM just puts their name on it.

umm, the difference between the two is pretty big. The 6800 is at least 50% faster than the x700, which is just a tad faster than the 6600 go.

I've had quite a few IBM laptops at home and everyone at my work uses an IBM laptop. They've been pretty reliable, my mom's t21 smoked a few months ago, the bios got corrupted because the notebook was started when the battery was dead...
start->settings->control panel->power options and set to maximum performance if you want it to always run at 1.86 ghz.
