I don't know what your reasons are for wanting PC only, but an iBook fits your bill perfectly.
Yeah. I wonder if it only happens for Apple though. It may be that other RAM upgrades found using the Crucial Memory Finder have premiums on them as well. I'm suprised there hasn't been more of an uproar here about this kind of price...
Well here's the final word. I talked online with a Crucial customer service rep. She (Jennie) told me that the two items were exactly the same and to order the cheaper one. So there you go.
It doesn't say otherwise, and they're both Crucial part numbers (i.e. starting with CT). Besides, doesn't Crucial only sell one brand (Micron)?
Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm using the UK site, but the same holds true for the US pricing.
If you go to crucial.com and price out a 512 MB stick for the 1.2 GHz iBook G4 using their 'Memory Finder' the price comes out to about £25 more than if you simply go straight to the 200-pin 512 MB PC2100 SO-DIMM which is what the iBook...
That is an excellent deal. I say go for it!
Well crap. I wish I'd known that. I just ordered a 12" iBook (shipped today!) and got the 80 GB harddrive which runs at a pokey 4200 rpm. Probably could have saved some money *and* gotten a faster HD if I'd gotten the Hitachi. Oh well.
