Did you take out the CPU? I had trouble starting my laptop after taking it apart. I had not locked in the CPU properly. Now it works fine but, my volume control isn't working so I have to take it all apart again to fix that.
I was wrong about the battery being under the mother board, it is in fact under the keyboard. To get the strip off ( theplastic part that has the quick start buttons and power buttons ) you have to unscrew the screws on the underside...

OKAY i GOT IT. You get to it from under the keyboard of the computer. It is located, probably under some tape, near the wireless card. To the left and up. It is soldered on and you have to unsolder it and resolder the new one.
The cmos battery is weird on this model ( HP Pavillioan ZV5000) You have to lift the keyboard of the computer and close to the wireless card ( to the left and up ) there is a small round battery with a white plastic ring holding it....
exactly what I'm doing now. I have yet to etract the motherboard. The manuals either omit the cmos location or it tells of a different location than on my machine. I will be back when I find it. Once I opened the case I was in deep.
