...NOT it crashed eventually... computer very hot and fan only turns on after the crash, I have never seen the fan spin while the computer is working... might buy a new fan and/or heatsink... hopefully it will work
SUCCESS ! It was the Ram... They must have both fried because of the wall of dust stuck between the fan and the heatsink.... Thanks very much for your opinions and advice. cheers Ben
Funny but I am thinking more and more of a RAM problem... When I let Windows run it loads and then restarts. I think the obstructed fan might have caused the two RAM bars to overheat because they behave strangly... I'll get compatible...

But if it is a motherboard issue, why can I load quite far into an OS when computer is dead cold and not very far when it's been used? Doesn't that sound more like a overheating issue? Wouldn't the motherboard fail at the same point...
By the way, I have removed every single component and reseat them all, no luck...
I thinks it's overheating, I found a small wall of dust in the cpu fan, but I don't know whether I have to change both the CPU and the fan... I think the CPU works fine, otherwise it wouldn't start like that and the RAM should be good...
now I can only access the bios for a couple of seconds and it "goes to sleep" again...

Hi, got this weird problem with Clevo D400E. It starts but then kind of shuts down, I mean by that it's still on but it kind of goes to sleep, even when I'm in the BIOS setup. I tried starting it without HDD same problem. I don't know...
