I had actually ordered a fan before I posted but wanted to check other things while I was waiting. The 'new' fan (refurbished of course) did the trick...no more worries...thanks for the quick reply.

I have an M-6750 that powers on and gets part way through the bios check before alerting me with a beep and a message that the cpu fan is not functioning. It's true, the fan is not functioning but the bearings are not shot so I'd suspect...
