thank you for the quick response djembe....i appreciate it... i still believe that i am gonna try the 2x1gb rams...only because ive seen a couple of posters say it works flawlessly... if everything else other than memory amount will fly...

i got a new laptop so i wanna mess around with my 8yr old dell latitude c840 and give it to my daughter... right now it has 256 and a 128 memory chips in it... can anyone tell me if this will work in this old c840 OCZ 1 GB DDR PC3200...
