I've got 3 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400 GB drives in RAID 5. No issues and bandwidth seems to be OK. Then again, I have a discrete RAID controller with hardware RAID 5.

When you plug in the headphones, open up volume control from the system tray and see what it is set to. In Vista, the headphone and speaker outputs have been separated to give independent volumes for each, similar to what Creative does...
