True, but then it violates one of the other requirements - portability and weight. Most of the Athlon 64 laptops I've seen are DTRs, and they're not really that portable or light.
And make sure you get the right cables to go along with your laptop/case. Sucks to get everything and then find out that you need the 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable.
Ouch, a little too expensive. It's at $2,700 for something that would cost less than $2,200 comparably equipped on the 3790 (WUXGA resolution). Thanks for the suggestion though.
Agreed - getting a good external can make or break your day. Also make sure you connect everything properly when you put the drive in. Hard to screw up, but not impossible.

Another thing you can try: Open up a Command Prompt with BearShare running, then run netstat -a -o. Then look up the PID for BearShare (tasklist.exe), and then see what ports BearShare listens to - then open those ports up.
