My friend did not password her HD...It just started to do that after she put windows on her hard drive. Since the password was generated by Dell...of course they should unlock it!! To charge someone for this is not good business. ...

Looks like there is no option but to not buy Dell. If they stand behind their product and charge you for their password....they simply do not deserve the business of honest folks.

A legitimate owner has this same problem with a Dell Inspiron 1420. It is not stolen. Dell wants to sell help to her to get her computer back. Frankly, this is not good business!! Ripping off someone who bought the product is not...
