Ok, dell chat person tells me replacement mother board is $400, they only have 5 left. Sounds like BS. He also says motherboards cannot be repaired reliably. Not sure what to think yet.

Ok, I took apart the computer and could find nothing wrong with anything, visual inspection. None of the cords produce even a flicker of green now and the battery is drained. I think I'm headed to the repair shop.
I'm not sure my computer has a power board, or where it would be, here is the service manual TOC http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...0/sm/index.htm Could it be another part?

Well the PA 3E is not even producing a green light now, so with a dead battery I got nothing. It did produce a green light for a few minutes, I got a boot, but then it turned orange and died. Will see if it comes back.
I just tried the PA-3E and it does the same thing as my old cords. Light flickers on and off, the battery eventually dies.
