could indeed be that it was still drying because everything seems back to normal...Fangui is reporting that my temps are fairly standard for a prescott chip...all the keys on the keyboard seem to work. No crashes...Could have been the AC...
Downloaded ATI tray tools and that also refuses to give me temp info on the GPU...could it be cause I installed mobile catalyst 6.6.2?
Ahhh...ok...found the setting that had to be enabled to get GPU temps...everything works normal now.

I think your right...the acetone is good for cleaning the cpu off before applying thermal paste...but I think it'd be bad for the circuitboard...which I assume is made from plastic....
