The harddrive idea is good...Also get 2 gigs of RAM.

The lappy is not...he bought it used...but the motherboard he replaced may still be under warranty...i should prolly have him holler bloody murder at Dell for a replacement, huh?

Ok here's the story...my bro-in-law who lives in Spain left his broke down 5150 at home. Apparently, he replaced the motherboard. When he tries to boot the thing up the drives whir and the fan kicks on but nothing comes up on the LCD....

If we had the paypal account I'd probably be willing to chip in 10 dollars for the final augmentation before Whack moves to Brazil...

I had some bad RAM at some point and ran a couple of different diagnostic tests (can't remember which) which didn't catch the problem...said the RAM was good. When I downloaded patches for games and tried to install them it would say...

Any reactions from you folks? In the Dell catalog I recieved it looks like the new 9200 cannot support the mr9800...Looks like that may make my 9100 hold some of its resale value a bit...What do you think?

Indeed, it looks like one of my sticks of ram is bad. I took out the one in the B slot and none of the problems are occurring anymore... Thanks
