You need to download 64-bit drivers since you installed windows 7 64-bit. The original driver may support both 32 and 64 bit OS, but you will need to check to make sure.
You need to get an extended battery for whatever system you choose. For example, dell systems usually come with a 6 cell battery. You can purchase an extended 9 cell (or in some cases a 12 cell) to get the added battery power. Things...
Windows shows the amount installed, and the amount available for non-OS related processing. i believe the system is allocating 1GB to OS, leaving 2GB for program processing. A 64 bit system would allow more than 4GB of usable memory.
The D610 has a 9-pin battery connector. Check to make sure the 9 pins are clean on the laptop. Check to make sure the battery plug for the 9 pins is clean as well. Sounds like the battery is losing contact with the laptop when it is moved.

I would just upgrade your current system. The D620 (or upgrade to the D630) are very reliable systems. We see very few system board issues. In most cases, the systems can be upgraded to C2D CPUs , 250Gb hard drives and 4GB ram.
