I would go for the option 1. Simply because of its hardware combination, AMD and ATI

Try checking the following: 1. In BIOS, see if it is available there. 2. try replacing the HDD cable. 3. try slaving your questionable HDD to another computer.   hope it helps.

I agree that you may need pro license to do that. From the net I found UltraMon tha may help your need. good luck
