Finally got round to taking some pictures of the WUXGA screen in my 8204 from various angles:
DVI and HDMI are the same standard video-wise, the only difference is that HDMI cables carry sound as well as picture.
They should have called it the HerniaMate...

After having replaced my 8204's screen with a WUXGA (1920x1200) screen I can't go back to lower resolutions. It feels claustrophobic...
But to take advantage of a 64 bit processor you need software specifically written for it, otherwise it defaults to 32bit emulation negating any advantage...
Downloading the latest drivers from Synaptic allows the rocker button to work in Firefox. I use up and down to scroll and left and right to go forward and back through pages.
Incidentally, after replacing my Samsung panel with a WUXGA Toshiba, the excessive rippling has gone. Even when I twist the sides of the lid in opposite directions nothing happens. I guess the Samsung screen was poorly built in addition...
I'll post some pics of the WUXGA screen alongside the original Acer one (now resident in my D800) later today...
