Also,   Now that I put the HD back in and now when i try to boot up, the fan only goes on for a few seconds and then cuts off. But all the lights are on and active. Power light, speaker volume up and down lights work and so...
That is the first thing that I did.    The problem is...  by it being stuck in sleep mode, it will never follow the boot sequence so it will never make it to the DVD drive to even boot from the OS...
No luck.   I took out the hard drive and power up the laptop but it's still in sleep mode. Only thing different this time is that the fan doesn't come on with the hard drive out. The power lights come on though.
