I have used both T7700 and T8300. Both are 2.4GHz. However the T8300 is for sure runs cooler. As for the 1MB catch different, frankly speaking, its hard to tell. I'd definitely go with T8300 as its cheaper option.

As long as you choose the discrete version, then T61/R61 only have difference in terms of dimension. And of course the battery capacity is different for the obervious reason.
