hm, next time the $750 off coupon circulates, i may have to reconsider buying it. with that coupon, it's much much cheaper than anything else you could buy... but you have to deal with the inconsistent customer service..

that's exactly what i was thinking... which was why it surprised me. maybe they are buying it straight from hitachi, so they make an order and wait a few weeks or something.

^^^ what they just said but keep in mind that if you're going to do a lot of typing, it might be a problem. it's not a full-sized keyboard and some of the keys are "rearranged"

im having my first-hand experience with the dell warranty, and i would say no... it's not worth the money or trouble.

the 700m is a popular notebook. small 12.1 inch screen, but it weighs less than 5 lbs i think.

i got the 8600.. u can unscrew the fan easily. guess they improved the design?

how do you know the enclosure caused your hdd to die?

this doesn't answer your question, but.. you do know that you can use an external hard drive right? 2.5" or the 3.5" works... the 2.5" case is so small that it'll fit in your pocket... and it doesn't require a power...
