regarding softimage and AMD , i had zero problems running XSI (since version 3.0) on amd processors. Or any other software too for that matter.
I am sure the AMD 64 will handle things just fine , its the ATI that worries me.
Yea i am going to wait I think , but the itch to buy the system now is too strong.
I dont know if its a no-no here , but are there any alternatives to sager for the same price range , but with a nvidia card?
if its against the forum rules to discuss other brands here my apologies.
I am not going to be rendering on the laptop. I have a nice Boxx workstation and a renderfarm to take care of that.
regarding overlays , I thought Maya stopped being dependant on HW overlays since version 5. Only workstation cards have hw overlay function as far as I know. Those problems must be because of the crappy ATI open gl drivers.
Hi Amir , yes its me from cgtalk
Can you define what you mean with crazy scenes?
Can you for example download the packageman rig from:
animate it around and tell me if you have smooth playback. Also how long does it take to playblast say 100 frames with that model? (when the model detail is set to medium from the channelbox)
Thats the kind of thing I'll be doing , if there are no display\flicker\slowdown issues I would...
Hi Guys ,
First time poster here.
I am in the market for a laptop and it seems Sager gives the best bang for the buck. I'll use the laptop solely for 3d modelling and animation running the following apps:
XSI , Maya , Photoshop , Zbrush and after fx.
Does anyone here use one or more of the software I listed and how is the performance\Display using those?
Also would love to hear what config you have.
Thanks very much in advance
