What makes you think it's broken? I am assured their has never been any damage of any time to the port.
Yeah it certainly isn't firewire by the looks of it lol. The woman I spoke to from Acer tech support didn't have a clue.   I emailed the tech support and added a pic, so maybe I will get a better explanation.   Cheers
Just to update.   I contacted Acer tech support about this, the woman I spoke to didn't really seem to know much of what I was on about though.   She said the port I'm referring to is a dual firewire/USB...
Thanks - So what's probabaly happened is Acer initially decided for the port to be eSATA but then later scrapped the idea and just wired a normal usb port instead?   Many thanks
Maybe there could be a fault in manufacturing?
Yeah their is because I remember installing it.   Cheers

Both ports are black in color guys.   So it IS an eSATA Port? I thought an eSATA cable required a wider port than a standard USB one though?   Thanks
I have attached some better pics
I was referring to it being a 'charge n play' port or whatever it's called.   I still haven't been able to find out why it looks so different than the other USB ports on my laptop.
