Found workaround from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;885855 I didn't get the hotfix, but the Infrared Monitor service was stopped. I started it and it worked.

Yes I have the same problem, but I've found that the port is actually working, you just need another program to use it, as a serial port (COM4 in my case).

The setting are all checked, including the one that says "Display an icon when a device is detected etc".

I found that the IrDa works (with another program, it is used like a serial port). But it doesn't have a wizard like it used to do.

I have the same problem with SP2, but I didn't have it with SP1, it went as you describe it, enable irda, point to the laptop and Windows would report that it found a new wireless device.
