What about chipset drivers? Do AMD computers need those? I know the Intel-chipset based mobo I have in the desktop needs mobo drivers to work optimally.

In the properties of the flash drive find the "Hardware" tab. In there select the option that says "optimize for quick removal" or something similar.
Well you could daisy chain the firewire devices. Looks like you need a 3.5" enclosure since those WD Caviar drives are desktop drives.
