Well my experince... Acer 15.4 widescreen models or be it any acer model , is not good for rough and tough use or note good for highly mobile people.. They are good as desktop replacement and for lite travel
Connect and external montior to the vga port and power up the notebook , if some thing gets displayed in the external monitor it might be lcd inverter problem . else you will have to send it back to acer to get motherboard replaced
I just found this SMART Hard disk dignostic utility
It keeps track of HDD health, temp etc the intresting thing is it shows
the life HDD life of my new TM 8100 as 63% , wondering how it degraded so fast.

Yes. the antenna is actually located behind the lcd . But it was supposed to give you better reception .. the easy solution is adjusting your router ariel..
if your using wireless for browsing purpose alone it better to go in b mode...
Yes , many programs report its as m10 and i guess its m10 after all and only the drivers for m11 ,
Btw: when i checked there service manual it listed as m11 , PM your mail address if u want the full service manual for the notebook
