I have a Z63A running W3A (801AS) BIOS.
Bitlocker fails to recognize USB Keys reliably on reboot and Bitlocker fails.
Does anyone have Bitlocker working on a Z63A or W3A?
Anyone know if a BIOS update might be in the works?
Probably we all did the same thing.
But, the 'disable execute bit' is supposed to be a 'good' thing, and shouldn't break the system standby function.
So I'd say it was more a BIOS bug than a user 'error'.
DISABLING the 'execute disable' function in the CPU section of the BIOS has CURED THE PROBLEM.
I have myself to blame for this since the machine came with this feature disabled, but I thought it would be 'a good thing' to enable it. Of course I forgot I did this.
AuroraS: Very grateful for your help. How did you know this would fix the problem?
hibernation is off.
everything else works. The machine is totally stable.
OS is completely up to date.
I figure it may be the order of installation when I re-installed drivers from Asus website. However, I didn't test the standby function as soon as I got the machine, so maybe it never worked.
Asus tech support wasn't helpful.
If anyone comes up with a fix, I'd sure like to know.
installed all of the latest drivers, BIOS, etc from Asus website.
However I didn't pay attention to the order of installation.
Don't know if that could be a problem.
It's a real pain not to be able to close the lid of the computer.
Wow, I've been holding off re-installing the OS. But I did think that would solve the problem.
If this is an Asus problem, how come we're not hearing from many people with the same symptoms?
Would be very grateful if you could post or let me know if you find any solution. I'll do likewise.
I've cleared the network card power management features; cleared this box on all devices that have 'Power Management' tabs.
- re-installed all device drivers from ASUS site, rather than using more recent ones from device sites.
I open the lid screen is dark, I press the spacebar and there is 1-2 sec of disk activity, the screen remains dark and that's it. I have to do a hard reboot.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
