lol and even though they know the problem exists in high percentiles of the product...they still act surprised when their notebook comes and the screen looks like @$$ lol

I have this same problem but I don't have AlienGUIse installed on my Area-51m2...the only potential cause I seem to see is the problem could be due to the installation of a particular Windows Update hotfix. On some of my XP Home...

Sounds like he got a refurbished screen...

The O/S is on the Recovery CD...they don't provide you with an OEM version of MCE...only their own little Dell oem version :-)

If I had a dollar for every SEPARATE thread about bad Dell screens...

Yeah...it seems like a great project with great results...make sure to take steps every step of the process...people on this forum are very interested in seeing them :-)
