Ughhuh: I finally got it to work, but I don't have it in my 8600 now so I can't tell you where I found it. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Update: The replacement drive came in and it's a NEC 6500A!!! Now I don't have to run the firmware upgrade which voids the warranty, and I get -R support - yay! 2 burns at 8x and no issues yet - I must have had a dud before.
Has it worked again back at his work or has it not worked anywhere since he took it there?
